A permanent position is available at the Faculty of Social Sciences for an Associate Professor in Work and Organizational Psychology at the Department of Psychology. The position will be linked to the Section of Methodology, Work and Organizational Psychology, Culture and Community psychology and Social psychology (MAKS).

The successful candidate will be required to initiate and publish research, supervise students and doctoral candidates, participate in teaching and exam-related work at all levels of the Department's study programmes (bachelor, master, professional, and PhD). The position also involves administrative and other duties in accordance with university regulations.

In accordance with the university's appointment regulations, applicants who are qualified for full professorship may subsequently apply for promotion once they have taken up their position.

The successful candidate will be will be expected to contribute substantially to the long-term development of research and teaching in Work and Organizational Psychology at the Department. The candidate is expected to teach and supervise at all levels in Work and Organizational Psychology and preferably also in research methodology.

The successful candidate will be a part of the research group in Work and Organizational Psychology. The Successful candidate is expected to strengthen the research on work and occupational aspects of the field and should contribute to and/or complement one or more of the research areas in the group. Current research areas are organizational change, climate, management, motivation, group dynamics, psychological contract, quality of employment, stress at the workplace, and safety and efficiency in MTO systems. The Nordic model and work-life in the Nordic region, emphasizing power sharing and social corporatism, is a common basis for the research activity in the group.

Qualification requirements

• PhD or equivalent qualification in psychology or a related discipline
• A strong research profile within the area of Work and Organizational Psychology and a track record of publications within the area in acknowledged publication channels.
• Pedagogical skills and an ability to take active part in teaching and administrative work as well as contributing to the further development of teaching in Work and Organizational Psychology. 
• Teaching experience within the area of Work and Organizational Psychology is desired. In-depth knowledge and proficiency in the regulatory framework governing the Nordic labor market is particularly welcome. 
• Applicants will be evaluated based on their documented academic qualifications as well as qualifications in teaching, management and administration. Emphasis will be placed on research and publication in recent years as well as the candidate's future research potential. In the assessment of publications, originality, quality, scope, and interdisciplinary engagement will be emphasized. Documented ability to collaborate in research projects will be taken into consideration during the appointment process.

A selection committee will invite a limited number of candidates ("short list") to submit a portfolio of up to (7) publications from the last ten years (a doctoral dissertation or a monograph will count as three publications) that are particularly relevant for the position. Academic texts shall therefore not be enclosed with the application.

The selection committee will assess and rank the short-listed candidates as the basis for an appointment decision by the Faculty of Social Sciences. The appointment process will include an interview, and applicants may be required to give trial lectures.

Formal regulations

The successful candidate who at the time of appointment cannot document basic teaching qualifications will be required to obtain such qualifications within a two-year period.

The successful candidate must demonstrate mastery of both English and one of the Scandinavian languages as working languages. If an appointee is not fluent in a Scandinavian language, the appointee will be expected within a two-year period to learn sufficient Norwegian to be able to participate actively in all functions the position may involve.
