About the position

The Business School at Nord University, Norway, invites applications from outstanding candidates for a three-year position as postdoctoral research fellow in innovation and entrepreneurship.

The post doc will work within the division of innovation and entrepreneurship. This is one of four divisions at the Business School and employs more than 40 people, from PhD students to professors, and is recognized internationally as the leading entrepreneurship group in Norway. The research group has a strong research profile within innovation and entrepreneurship with a focus on new business formation, innovation in existing businesses as well as public policies for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The research activity can be tailored to the candidate's own interests, but should be related to understanding the linkages between research, innovation and sustainability. Potential topics include the processes of science commercialization and technology transfer, and the wider impacts on business, society and sustainability, as well as the development and implementation of innovations in private and public sector to enable the transition to a circular economy.

The position is ideal for persons aiming to develop a strong network and publication portfolio in these areas. The research group has an ambitious publishing plan and we expect the successful candidate to contribute to achieve this.

The contract will be for a 3-year period with a 25 % teaching load, and the work is to be carried out on location in Bodø, Norway, a growing university town in an area of great natural beauty (https://visitbodo.com/home). The position may also involve tasks at Nord University's other campuses.

Qualification requirements

• PhD in Business, Management, Innovation, Entrepreneurship or equivalent within the last 6 years. Applicants who will complete their PhD first half of 2019 may also apply. In such cases, the application should contain a detailed letter explaining the current status of the candidate's PhD project
• Experience in research within innovation, entrepreneurship or related areas and/or within management and business
• Excellent skills in research methods, preferably including quantitative approaches
• Excellent written and oral English language skills

Advantageous, but not strict requirements:

• Documented pedagogical qualifications and experience from teaching and supervision. This because although the primary duties of the position are within research, but the candidate is expected and encouraged to be an active member of the Business School's faculty and take part in teaching, supervision, outreach and administrative responsibilities
• Experience from acquisition of and conducting externally funded research projects (e.g. from the EU framework programmes, national research councils, or other public and private sources)
• International experience and research networks
• Good understanding of a Scandinavian language (Norwegian, Swedish or Danish)

Qualified applicants will be ranked according to the following criteria:

• Description of research, quality and relevance for the position
• Potential and documented ability of academic publication and management of research projects
• The scholarly portfolio (e.g. publications) and experience of the candidates will be assessed relative to when they defended their PhD
• Personal suitability and motivation for the position

The position is paid according to the Government regulations, postdoctoral code 1352 / LR 24, from NOK 515 200,- to 534 100,-

Application process

Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. The applicants will be informed of the committees' assessment. As part of the overall assessment of applicants' qualifications, an interview may be required.

If there are many applicants, an internal committee may be convened to identify the most relevant candidates in the pool. These candidates will then be evaluated by an expert committee. All applicants will be advised in writing of the outcome.
